About Me

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and the Principal Investigator of the Cognitive Agents and Interaction Lab (CAIL). Within CAIL, I founded and lead CognistormAI, an AI-focused research and development initiative that supports the translation of academic research into practical, deployable solutions for real-world applications.

I received my PhD in Computer Science from the University of Southampton, UK, in 2018, under the supervision of Prof. Nick Jennings CB, FREng and Prof. Long Tran-Thanh. Prior to that, I completed my MS and BSc degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Dhaka in 2012 and 2010, respectively.

My research lies broadly in Artificial Intelligence, with particular interests in Multi-Agent Systems, Generative AI Applications, Graph Neural Networks, and Multi-Agent Deep Reinforcement Learning. I focus on distributed decision-making, intelligent agent coordination, and the development of deployable AI systems that integrate generative AI, deep learning, and data-driven methodologies.

My work is largely application-agnostic, with an emphasis on building AI methods and systems that can be adapted across different real-world settings. A major focus of my recent work is the development of AI applications for on-premises deployment in low-resource environments, where solutions must be computationally efficient, affordable, privacy-aware, and adaptable to local institutional needs. Through my academic research and applied R&D activities, I aim to build practical, accessible, and sustainable AI-enabled systems for institutions with limited computational and infrastructural resources.
